Course Content:
This course teaches the basic knowledge and skills required for the emergency care of a sick or injured casualty, with the aim of developing practical skills that may be required to assist in real life situations.  The flexible nature of the course allows participants to complete the theoretical component online or through a written workbook.  Using only highly trained instructors, with the most current information and equipment, the course is delivered over a period of 8 hours in a professional and relaxed learning environment.

Skills and Knowledge Include:

  • DRSABCD Emergency Action Plan
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Managing the unconscious casualty
  • Trauma and Medical emergencies
  • Assisting with treatment of asthma, anaphylaxis and heart conditions
  • Bites and Stings
  • On successful completion of the course you will receive:
  • Statement of Attainment that is legislative approved for 3 years
  • A4 size certificate + plastic wallet card
  • Key-ring facemask
  • First Aid manual
  • The confidence to act in an emergency

Duration of course: 8 hours classroom training & assessment  + completion of theoretical component online or by written mode.

Certification: Legislative approval for 3 years from the completion date.  Annual refreshers are recommended to maintain current CRP skills.

Award Issued: Statement of attainment on successful completion of the course.  This unit of competency is nationally recognised on the National Training Information Service website: http//www.ntis.gov.au.

Prerequisites and requirements: Students must be 14 years or older.  An online workbook or written workbook must be completed prior to the commencement of the course.

Assessment tools: Multiple choice exam & ongoing practical assessment throughout the course.

Recommended: comfortable attire should be worn.

Refresher: 1 day classroom training and assessment.  Participant must have current first aid certificate to complete course.  Valid for 3 years from the completion date.  Annual CPR refreshers are recommended to maintain current CPR skills.
